Abstrak

A neck tumor is a lump in the neck area or a lump on the body. One of the treatments for tumors is surgery, specifically tumor excision. Patients scheduled for surgery often feel anxious. Therefore, one intervention that can reduce anxiety is preoperative education. A case study of one patient in the preoperative room, with an intervention consisting of preoperative education about the surgical procedure, benefits, risks, and postoperative care. Before receiving preoperative education, the patient experienced anxiety and had a low level of knowledge about the disease and surgical procedures. After receiving preoperative education, the patient was able to repeat the material provided, thereby reducing anxiety and increasing knowledge. Further research with a larger sample size is needed to strengthen the evidence of the effectiveness of this intervention.  Preoperative education was proven to be effective in reducing anxiety and increasing knowledge in patients with colli tumors.
