The prevalence of patients with diabetes mellitus requiring hospitalization due to unstable blood glucose levels remains high. This condition necessitates comprehensive nursing management, including non-pharmacological interventions. This study aimed to describe the application of Benson relaxation therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus experiencing blood glucose instability through a nursing care approach. This study employed a case study method using the nursing process approach. The nursing assessment findings revealed that the patient complained of weakness, dry mouth, increased thirst, and elevated blood glucose levels of 374 mg/dL. The nursing diagnosis established was unstable blood glucose level related to insulin resistance. The expected nursing outcome was improved stability of blood glucose levels. The main intervention provided was hyperglycemia management, supported by dietary education, along with an innovative intervention in the form of Benson relaxation therapy administered three times daily for 10–15 minutes. Nursing implementation was carried out according to the planned nursing care over a period of three consecutive 24-hour cycles. The evaluation results indicated that the nursing care objectives were achieved, as evidenced by a reduction in weakness, improved oral moisture, decreased thirst, and an improvement in blood glucose levels to 184 mg/dL. Therefore, Benson relaxation therapy can be considered an effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention for managing blood glucose instability in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
